Light Trails
To practice working with low light conditions, some fellow students and I decided to experiment with light trails and flashes in the black studio. For this we did a shoot consisting of some experimenting with wire lights to create light trails, some using a flash gun and some combining the 2 different techniques. For health and safety: Normal studio H&S rules apply (no shoes on while on the studio, ensure any studio light are not a trip hazard etc). Also I will have to make sure the wires lights we will be using are not a trip hazard when being used too. Equipment: Camera, Tripod, Flash Gun, Wire Lights |

Flash Gun ExperimentsWe also did a number of flash gun experiments to further develop the skills we learnt during the flash workshop, specifically using the flash to create multiple ghostly versions of the same person in one image. This was just to help us get to grips with using flash guns (which none of us had any previous experience with) and get experience with them since many of us wanted to use flash guns in some manner during this project.

Shoot Evaluation
Since this shoot was more focused around getting experience with the equipment and techniques involved with this style of photography, I was less focused with the quality of the images and more on learning the technique. However, I am impressed with some of the images from the shoot. I feel motion and colour from the light trail images has helped to produce some strong, abstract images, with more to them than standard light trail photography. I especially light the images that combined the flash gun with the light trails, I feel there is a lot of potential with them.
Having learnt what I have from this shoot, were I to do it again I would take greater care with the flash from the flash gun as a continuous issue I had to deal with was over exposure from the flash.
