MoodBoards
Here I have compiled a moodboard of old images I have taken I intend to base this project around. I chose these images as they are in an area of photography I have had significant experience in, giving me a good starting point to work from.

Working from the idea of nature based photography, I have compiled this moodboard of nature related public photography/art installations to research into.

My Photography Research
I've looked at my images from previous uni/personal projects and taken inspiration from them for my moving image clips, in order to get a feeling for the positioning and framing for them. I am looking at my wildlife photography images since it is an area of photography I am most experienced in and so will give me a good starting point. To get images of this style, my ISO will need to be an average of 400, my F.stop around 6 to achieve the depth of field and my shutterspeed around 800 to prevent motion blur. These setting will be weather/lighting dependent but they are the general average I will need to use. |
Idea Research
Researching into what I wanted the underlying theme to be, I looked into the resent huge forest fire that had occurred recently in the amazon rainforest and the public outrage that occurred over the media's lack of coverage over the fire. I could use this project to raise awareness for the issue, working with charities such as Greenpeace and WWF. |
Installation Research
Ackroyd and Harvey famously produced multiple works using grass, achieving this by projecting a negative of the image over a large piece of turf, allowing the grass to grow greener in the lighter areas and more yellow in the darker areas, causing the image to be visible within the grass. I've looked at this as it is a medium almost completely unexplored and it is a literal embodiment of nature within photography. Whilst the time constraints of this project will likely make producing work in this style impossible, I still will look into Ackroyd and Harveys' work and style for inspiration for my work. |
These artworks created by 3D Joe & Max (along with the various pieces shown on this blogspot page) show a creative way to bring a natural landscape into an urban environment. This is something I would like to explore in this project, using perspective with urban/natural combination.

In 2014, Pepsi launched an ad campaign using an augmented reality screen on a bus stop. It involved the screen appearing to be a glass window that would then have surprising events appear, such as giant robots, UFOs and a loose tiger. This would then shock the bus stop goers into paying attention to the screen. This creative project using moving image is something I would like to explore within my project, combining the shock style advertisement with the natural concept I plan to do for this project. It would also be interesting to explore moving image natural work, something I have not explored previously. |
