Album Cover Experiments
Paint Edits
With Enya's videos and album covers heavily incorporating the use of paint and textures in them, I decided to experiment with combining them into this work. For this, I made a series of paint smears and splatters of various textures and patterns, then scanned these in and edited them onto the images. Whilst the edits produced (below) are just preliminary experiments, the use of the paint texture works well to convey the project idea successfully.

Continuing the paint experimentation, I decided to draw further inspiration from Enya's previous album cover designs and make some leaf paint prints to further the natural theme through Enya's work in combination with paint texture. From the experiments below, the use of the leaf texture is extremely effective in combining paint textures and the natural style, representing Enya's themes aptly. |
Flower Edits
Whilst researching further into art representing nature, I discovered some artwork (left) which inspired me to explore using pressed flowers in the cover designs, as they are an effective way to show nature in a 2d design. As such, I scanned in a number of pressed flowers and used them to create album cover designs in a similar style to that of Enya's. Whilst I feel these are effective designs, I do see them as specifically apt representations of Enya's style and am focusing more predominantly on the more successful leaf print design concept. |
