1 Day Shoot
Shoot Plan
On the first day of the project, we were given the assignment of coming up with the idea for a shoot and then executing that shoot, all within a period of a few hours. For this, I chose to focus on the idea of taking a series of natural images and then editing them to give them the appearance of being taken in a studio. To create this effect, I chose to use a technique I had used in previous shoots where brightly coloured paper of a contrasting colour to the image focus is placed behind the image's focus (e.g. purple paper placed behind a bright yellow flower). This makes it much easier to edit the images to look like a studio shoot by editing the background colour to become black.
With little time to plan the shoot, I chose the location of Woods Mill, somewhere I knew would have the image subjects I required for the shoot, specifically flowers, insects and other small natural subjects. For the health and safety of the shoot, I planned to keep a safe distance from any rivers or lakes and chose to wear appropriate clothing and footwear for the shoot.

Shoot Evaluation
For a shoot that had to be planned and shot all within a few hours, I feel the shoot was very successful, with the images having strong point of focus and good contrast. The images also have a realistic studio appearance to them. However, any image subject that did not have a straight edge (e.g. was slightly fuzzy) resulted in the colour of the background bleeding through, something I would need to take into account when selecting further image subjects.
