Shoot Plan
Whilst I planned to do the majority of my macro fauna shoots during the lockdown (it being the only shooting able to do) it seemed prudent to continue the macro shoots, especially since more macro fauna will be emerging as the spring weather continues. Specifically, I am aiming to focus my photography on the bees and butterflies that are starting to come out more since the previous shoots. Equipment: Canon 5D MkIII, Canon MP-E 65mm f/2.8 1-5x Location(s): Garden, Local Area Health and Safety: Any shots taken outside of the household property must involve COVID precautions (masks when needed, social distancing etc). Care taken around water (e.g. pond) since use of electrical equipment. Appropriate clothing and footwear worn. |

Shoot Evaluation
Continuing my previous macro fauna shooting seemed a prudent course of action and the results seem to validate the idea, with these images having strong focus and natural lighting. They also include the portrait style anthropomorphisation that I have used as the basis for all of my shoots. These images did have a shorter depth of field than I would've liked, losing detail that could greatly improve the overall image. This is down to the natural lighting limiting me to a smaller F.stop and thus a smaller level of detail. I plan to explore a way around this, possibly finding a way to create a studio style setup with the macro fauna in order to produce images with a larger depth of field and greater detail. |
