Brent Lodge Reshoot
Shoot Plan
For the second shoot, I plan to replicate the previous shoot but with the use of the soft box light to improve lighting. I also plan to go to Brent Lodge on a clearer/sunnier day, providing better lighting for both the hedgehogs and the exterior shoots. I also plan to ask for entrance to the owls enclosures to get closer images. I will repeat the use of the hedgehog "habitat" to get my images, furthering the appearance of the wilds over a studio/hospital appearance.
Equipment: Canon 80D, 75-300 Macro Zoom lens, Hedgehog "Habitat", gloves, soft box light. Health and Safety: For Hedgehogs; Wear gloves when handling them. Only handle them when permitted. Do not keep them out for an extended period of time. Do not have open doors around them incase of escape. Do not have the hedgehog in the box for an extended period of time. For Other Enclosure Animals; Maintain safe distance from cage bars. Do not enter the enclosure unless permitted and supervised. Maintain distance from animal when inside enclosure. |

Final Edits
For these images, I have only edited the brightness and contrast, slightly adjusted the colour balance to correct for white balance issues and added a shade gradient on the edges of some images to shift focus to the centre of the image.
Shoot Evaluation
This shoot has been much more successful, with the softbox light providing adequate lighting for the shoot, meaning I could use a lower ISO and shutter speed for the shoot, producing clearer, less blurry and less grainy images. The clearer weather also meant I could produce lighter images of the exterior wildlife, producing clearer and less grainy images of the owls and other birds. However, were I to do this shoot again, I would like to bring additional lighting to keep the hedgehogs well lit whilst allowing for the hedgehogs movement. I would also like to get freer access to the animals enclosures, in order to get closer shots of the outside animals. |
