Night Nature
Following on from my research into Dirk Ercken, I have decided to do a shoot in his style, focusing specifically on the macro side of his photography. For this, I plan to shoot my own macro style shoot and light up the various natural subjects using light painting. I would also like to experiment with using flash as well. For health and safety, I will be taking pictures outside so appropriate footwear must be worn at all times. I will also have to make sure any lighting wires to not pose a trip hazard. Equipment: Camera, Tripod, Flash Gun, Lights for light painting. |

Shoot Evaluation
I feel this shoot has been very successful, producing some interesting work and giving me a good starting place for this project. I would very much like to continue this nighttime nature work in this project. However I did have several major issues when taking this shoot. One issue I had was during the light painting, either wind or accidentally touching the plants with the light caused it to move and the image to become very blurred. Another big issue I had was the use of any flash causing the image to become very over exposed. Were I to do this shoot again, I would like to do it in a studio to prevent wind moving the plants. I would also take care to have the flash dim enough tonot over expose the light painting when used together in images.
