Location Shoot Crit
To ensure I get the highest possible quality edits out of this shoot, I asked Kirste to critique the location reshoot images.
She was very impressed with the bat image (shown left), even though its eyes were hidden the lighting and composition if the image was well thought out. The lemur images however were not as good, having too shallow a focus and many of them only having focus on a single eye rather than both, so I will likely not use them in my final images. |
This meerkat image was by far the best, with the other, closer images not having a large enough depth of field and lacking any real character of a portrait shoot. To improve on future shoots, I would ensure I took any images zoomed out to encompass more of the meerkat, rather than just the face.

The Ibis images came out well, although Kirste mentioned the images could have been improved by having the entire birds beak within the shot whilst also maintaining the blurred out background, further adding to the character of this ibis in the shot. |
The Marmoset images were very successful, with a strong lighting and composition. However it was said that the images would have been more successful with a stronger depth of field. I would achieve this by zooming out more, since the reliance on natural lighting prevent significant change to the f.stop of the image.

Crit Re-edits
Based on the feed back I received from this crit, many of my images only needed minor tweaking to be significantly improved.
For this image, the main issues was the harsh lighting on the head and the large pink feather protruding to the right of the image. To improve the image, I edited the top of the flamingos head to darken the harsh lighting using the gradient tool and edited out the distracting pink feathers using the spot healing brush and paint brush tools.
